Inching toward the prize, I’m almost there. I can see it. Hell, I can smell it. It’s almost within my grasp.
It’s been a long road to get here. Years I’ve toiled; miles I’ve traveled and hours I’ve spent thinking about it when I haven’t physically striven to arrive right where I am. Right now. Right here. Just another…
It’s…
Gone.
“Mom! That other horse ate my carrot!”
The trick in the humour which i do appreciate is the sort of twist in the end. Humour that leads us along then hits us with what we don’t expect is always very refreshing. I think its important to make your reader think, you can’t do all the work for them, it also allows them to interpret from their own context. Leave them guess and wanting more what could be more delightful for a writer. Have a good evening Linda.
Thanks very much Michael. 🙂 I do think as well that being able to interpret something in a context which relates to you, as a reader, is important. I appreciate your comment! :Have a nice evening. 🙂
Pleasure Linda. Lunch time in the land down under.
Are you that far away? I don’t know why I thought you were in the U.S. Then again, I assume everyone is, even though I’m in Canada. 😛
Surprise surprise the world is a big yet small place now days.
Quite true indeed. Enjoy your lunch! And have a pleasant evening when you get there. 😉
Well done, It’s succinct and expresses a lot about the struggle we have during our life to succeed, only to realise someone has beaten us to the real prize.
lol I hope I got your gist.
You did! As long as you put a human perspective on it. 🙂 Thanks very much for your kind comment and your follow as well 😀
I like it when you allow the reader to think a little on his own. I find that with poetry as well,to leave the reader with interpretation. Humour can be tricky at times due to culture and language but like poetry, there is always room for interpretation and I think that’s okay too. I like to hear different perspectives some get on some of my poems that are totally not what I was thinking …but it just makes it that much richer.
hahahaha I loved it! blind until you see! I only know what I like when I read it. When I write I never know the ending until I’m there.
